BSR’s HERproject is excited to partner with the Kenya Flower Council (KFC) and Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG) to launch a new initiative on health in gender in Kenya's floriculture sector. Flowers represent the third largest export commodity from Kenya, employing 90,000 workers, 60% of them women. KFC is the leading voluntary association of cut flower and ornamental growers and exporters in Kenya. DEG is a German development finance institution that finances investments of private companies in developing and emerging markets worldwide.

Partnering with KFC and DEG, we are recruiting KFC grower members to participate in a sector-wide initiative to improve worker health, well-being, and productivity in Kenya’s flower sector. Participating farms will receive 8 months of peer education trainings on health and gender relations, as well as support to facilitate access to on-site and off-site health services and guidance to ensure project sustainability. An impact assessment will measure program benefits for workers and for participating businesses. For more information, please contact Lauren Shields lshields@bsr.org.
